“Route 66: Food & Gas” pays homage to the iconic highway that spanned from the Midwest all the way to the West Coast, ending in Santa Monica, California.
The piece was painted in what’s considered to be a “selective color” style. The backdrop elements are all painted in grayscale, with the gas pump and the Coca-Cola sign (the main subjects) appearing in color. The red becomes more vibrant against the backdrop of black-and-white, accompanied by the yellow lettering of the Coca-Cola sign.
This work measures 48”w x 36”h, painted on board and mounted on a 3 inch backing painted black.
