For almost 5 years, I was in outside sales, and every day I wore a suit; often referred to as the "monkey suit" because everyone wore one.
That was the inspiration for this piece: a human-like character with an ape-like face that means business, wearing a business suit, clutching a briefcase.
The symbols in the piece reference the corporate world: a barrel of monkeys, the "No Cents" symbol (double entendre), the howler monkey, and a monkey wrench, and "Welcome to the Jungle" spray painted in the corner (a nod to the Guns n' Roses song).
The distressed and decayed background is loosely comprised of graffiti, poster material, and images of currency from different parts of the world.
